FreeRefMod changelog
[2.0.0] — 2026-10-10 - Rebuilt from the ground up
Your 1.x rules keep working as they are.
Fixed
- A rule with a port (
192.168.1.1:8443), a full address (https://…) or a typo no longer applies to every site; it’s marked as needing a fix instead. - An origin typed as a full address is understood instead of being ignored.
- Rule order now matters: the first rule in the list that fits is used (it used to depend on how long the text was).
- Keep works as a real exception, for any target and origin.
- One rule Chrome can’t use no longer stops all the others; the problem is shown next to that rule.
- No more starter rules that would change the referrer on every site.
Added
- Origins can be an IP range (
192.168.1.*), same (same site) or other (any other site). - Targets can be IP ranges, ports,
*.example.comor full addresses. - Test a request: see which rule would be used for any address.
- Plain-English summary under every rule, per-rule on/off switch and notes, undo on delete, changes save as you type.
- Popup with an on/off switch (the icon shows OFF), the rules for the current site and one-click rules for it.
- Dark, light or automatic appearance; a note when a new version is out.
Removed
- The “Target” action (Chrome no longer lets extensions do it) and the debug header that was sent to websites.
- The broad
declarativeNetRequestpermission (2.x uses the narrower one).
[1.1.8] — 2025-08-31
- First public version.
