Powerball and Mega Millions: pick numbers, check your ticket from a photo, and see results and stats that update by themselves.

Open Lottery How to use

Version 2.0 Updated October 11, 2026 What's new

What it does

A fun lottery helper for Powerball and Mega Millions, kept up to date on its own: results refresh twice a day from New York State's official open data, and the page tells you when it last checked.

Picks with a purpose

No method can raise your chances: every number has the same odds in every draw. But there is one real, well-documented way to pick better: choose numbers other people avoid. Lots of players use birthdays (1–31), lucky 7s, straight runs and patterns, so when those come up, the jackpot gets split many ways. The Smart pick starts from a fully random pick and re-draws anything that looks like a popular ticket, so if it ever hits, you're less likely to share it. Random, Hot and Cold are there too, labeled honestly.

Check a ticket in seconds

Type your numbers, or take a photo: crop it to the rows of numbers on your phone and the server reads them (the photo is deleted right away). Check against the latest draw, the last few, or any date, and see the prize for each line, including Mega Millions' 2025 prize amounts.

Play for fun

The jackpot odds are 1 in 292,201,338 for Powerball and 1 in 290,472,336 for Mega Millions. This tool isn't connected with any lottery, and results can trail the official ones by a few hours, so always confirm a win with the official lottery before you throw a ticket away. If gambling stops being fun, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (free, confidential, 24/7).

Features

  • Both games, always current: Powerball and Mega Millions results refresh twice a day from New York State open data, with a note saying when it last checked.
  • Smart picks: same odds, but it skips birthday-only picks, runs, patterns and past winners, so a jackpot is less likely to be split.
  • Check a ticket from a photo: crop it on your phone and the numbers fill in; or type them. Real prize amounts for every line.
  • Check against the latest draw, the last few, or any date since today's rules began.
  • Stats: hot, cold and overdue numbers, the most common Powerball and Mega Ball, and numbers drawn together most.
  • Past results for the last 30 draws.
  • Installs on your phone with its own icon; dark by default. Nothing loads from outside sites.

Questions

Do Smart picks win more often?

No, and nothing can: every number has the same chance in every draw. Smart picks avoid what lots of other people play (birthdays, runs, patterns, past winners), so if you do win the jackpot you're less likely to split it.

Do hot and cold numbers mean anything?

Not for the future. Each draw is independent, so a number that's come up a lot isn't more (or less) likely next time. They're there because they're fun to look at.

How current are the results?

The page checks New York State's official open data twice a day (7:15 AM and 7:15 PM Central) and shows when it last checked. The state's data can trail the drawing by a few hours, so always confirm a win with the official lottery.

What happens to my ticket photo?

It's read on TheLabs.fyi's own server to find the numbers and deleted right away. It isn't kept or sent anywhere else.

Is this affiliated with Powerball or Mega Millions?

No. It's an independent, free tool. For official results and prize claims, go to your state lottery.
