Spades Night

Spades Night changelog

Every change to Spades Night, newest first.

Current version: [1.0.2] — 2026-10-24

[1.0.2] — 2026-10-24 - Looks right on every screen

Fixed

  • On the smallest phones, the Rules and Games buttons at the top no longer run into each other.
  • Long team names in the scores take two lines instead of being cut short.
  • The trick count on the table is never clipped on narrow phones.
  • The title fits even with your phone set to bigger text.
  • Checked on every screen, from small iPhones to desktops, with normal and bigger text.

[1.0.1] — 2026-10-24 - Your hand fits small phones

Fixed

  • When your 13 cards don't all fit across the screen, they now overlap like a real hand, with each card's number and suit showing in the corner. On some iPhones they lay out flat instead, and the whole table scrolled sideways.

[1.0] — 2026-10-19 - Spades Night is here

Added

  • Play Spades against Smart or Easy computer players, you and a computer partner against two computer players. Smart players imagine where the unseen cards might be and play the hand out many ways before choosing (they never peek); in testing they beat the Easy ones 30 games out of 40.
  • Friends & family tables with a 4-letter code or link, on the same card server as Pitch Night: pick seats, fill empty chairs with computer players, everyone ready before the next hand, and the host can let a computer take over for someone who left.
  • Six versions: Classic, Jokers & Deuces, Cutthroat, Suicide, Mirror and Whiz.
  • House rules: Nil worth 100 or 50 (or off), Blind Nil when 100 behind (or any time, or never), bags (every 10 costs 100, every 5 costs 50, no penalty, or worth nothing), breaking spades, lowest club leads, a team minimum bid, bids of 10 or more count double, the mercy rule at −200, and the score you play to.
  • Blind Nil the real way: your cards stay face down until you choose.
  • A scoreboard with bags filling toward the next penalty, a running "2 of 3" for every player, a card order sheet, a ring for who has the trick caught, Hint that explains itself, Auto-play, real card sounds, the score sheet, and a Rules page in plain English.
  • Links between the card games, and a front door at cards.thelabs.fyi that takes any table code to the right game.
